Clair Lewoski has been working with children and young people for nearly 20 years, having qualified as an Arts Therapist in 1997. She has worked for many years in schools, as well in the NHS in Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS).  She is a therapist, supervisor, lecturer, trainer and qualified teacher.

Clair is qualified as an HCPC registered Arts Therapist, UKCP registered Child Psychotherapist and primary school teacher. She was instrumental in the setting up and development of a therapeutic service across 10 Manchester Primary Schools, called ‘Calm Spaces’, which was funded by Manchester Children's Fund (see www.mewan.net/calmspaces/index.php). Her role there was as a therapist seeing children, parents and consulting to teachers, as well as being the clinical and project supervisor overseeing the development of the clinical model and the work of the projects' team of therapists. Under her guidance the project evolved from 4 to 10 schools across the city and at the end of the funding from Children's Fund, Clair assisted in the project becoming a registered charity.

Whilst working for Calm Spaces, Clair also contributed to thinking across the local authority regarding delivering therapeutic work in schools and she wrote a document to guide schools in their practice which has now been rolled out to all Manchester City Council schools and can be downloaded here: www.manchester.gov.uk/site/scripts/google_results.php

Clair has also worked in the NHS in Child and Adolescent Mental Health services, where she provided therapy to children and young people aged 5-16yrs and their families. She also specialised in working with children who had experienced trauma through working for an Arts Therapies trauma support team in schools see  www.oneeducation.co.uk/services/send-safeguarding/therapeutic-interventions/Currently she works in private practice as a therapist and supervisor, as well as teaching at Cambridge University www.educ.cam.ac.uk/people/staff/lewoski/   on the certificate, diploma and masters course in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counselling www.educ.cam.ac.uk/courses/ppd/counsellors/counselling/

Clair has trained extensively in therapeutic work with children and young people, and continues to do so, believing this is necessary in order to work effectively as a therapist and supervisor. Six years of her training, including a masters degree, was with the Tavistock Clinic which is recognised as a leader in the field of child mental health. She also has Masters in Child Psychotherapy from The Institute for Arts In Psychotherapy and Education (IATE) see www.artspsychotherapy.org/ and is an examiner, as well as primary supervisor for child psychotherapy and counselling trainees there. Clair has also completed training in Mentalization Based Treatment for Families with the Anna Freud Centre in London see www.annafreud.org/pages/mentalization-based-treatment-for-families.html
